2026 RESEARCH INTERNSHIP
Duration: 6 months, part-time (minimum 15 hours/week)
Location: Remote, with possible occasional funded travel to Brussels
WHAT TO FIX is seeking a Research Intern to learn about and conduct research on social media monetization and the regulatory frameworks that govern it. This internship offers exposure to platform governance, digital rights, media policy, and technology regulation. The role is remote, with opportunities to participate in meetings or events in Brussels (travel expenses covered).
Key Tasks
- Assist in maintaining WTF’s Meta Monetization Archive by helping with daily downloads and quality checks of Meta’s partner-publisher disclosures.
- Assist in the documentation of monetization programs, terms and policies across major social media platforms.
- Support media monitoring, documenting relevant reporting, research, investigations, platform changes and policy developments.
- Contribute to the organization of events.
- Support the drafting, editing, and proofreading of our newsletter and other publications
- Draft research notes, summaries, and policy briefs to support WTF’s investigations and advocacy.
- Contribute to internal documentation and knowledge management.
Who Is This Internship For
Graduating students in law, public policy, media studies, digital governance, political science, or related fields who are detail-oriented, comfortable with research tasks, and interested in platform accountability.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of — and build critical expertise in — an emerging field of platform accountability: Monetization Governance.
Internship Requirements
- Duration: The internship is for a minimum of 15 hours a week, for a period of 6 months.
- Compensation: the selected intern will receive a monthly stipend of EUR 100 per month.
- Location: Remote, with possible occasional funded travel to Brussels
